For us, 2025 ended on Dec 31 at 5:33 PM with a Fire 4 call – and 2026 began just under seven hours later, at 12:27 AM on Jan 1, with a container fire (Fire 2). That start to the year set the pace for the months that followed.
Last year we didn't reach our 50th call until August 28 – this year it was already May 25. That clearly shows how intense the first months were.
We handled a wide range of difficult calls: the container fire on New Year's morning, fires with call codes Fire 1 to Fire 5, dangerous materials (ABC 1 and ABC 2), and technical help and rescue (TH 1 and TH 2). We also used our drone at a wind turbine in Freudenberg, after receiving it only in late April.
We especially remember the building fire in Müsen on April 1 and the traffic accident right in front of our Dahlbruch fire station on April 6 – moments that show how urgently help can be needed, sometimes right on our own doorstep.
Vehicles called out so far: the fire engine (LF) 46×, the ladder truck (DLK) 42×, the command vehicle (ELW) 17×, the medium-sized fire engine (MLF) 14× and the crew transport vehicle (MTF) 9×.
Outside emergency calls, we also did a lot together: the May Fair on April 30 and May 1, the Rhein-Weser-Turm stair race on May 9, the Boßeln tournament (a traditional ball-throwing game) and the visit to the local water authority in late August, and our family day on September 12. On September 19, members passed their team leader course, the children's fire brigade held a waffle sale, and our drone took part in an unannounced county training exercise for an emergency with many injured people.
I want to thank every one of you for your hard work, your energy and your willingness to help at any time. I do not take any of this for granted. 💪🚒
I'm especially pleased that we welcomed several new members this year. Our open evening on February 25 alone led directly to people joining – a great sign for our unit's future.
